Q: How do I build BLAST?

A: Run ./ncbi/make/makedis.csh from the blast directory.


Q: I get the following compile error:
gcc -pipe -g -c -g -DUSE_FPGA -I.. -I/usr/share/mithal/include -DSIMULATE -DMITHAL -I../include ncbithr.c cp -p ncbithr.o ../lib
make: *** No rule to make target `ncbibs.o', needed by `libncbi.a'. Stop.

Fatal error building NCBI core libraries.
Please be sure that you have X11 and Motif libraries installed.

A: It's due do the makefile not functioning properly. Just run ./ncbi/make/makedis.csh one more time.


Q: How do I run the accelerated BLAST application?

A: First, you need to set up the environment variables BLAST_BITSTREAM, BLAST_FPGAS and RASCLIB_IO. See the Documentation page for details. Then you run the blastall application. For more details, see the NCBI documentation for blastall.
